On the roads in Europe - A graphic designers view!

Information design fascinates me. It’s, for me, one of the purest forms of graphic design. Often overlooked as design communication and taken at face value for what it depicts. Which, of course, is the point! The message should be communicated and function takes priority. But what if this function, common to different cultures, are communicated in similar - yet different - ways. As a visual designer im intrigued every-time I drive between European countries and see the subtle differences in road signage. Though largely adhering to the Vienna Code, there are differences, somewhat cultural, somewhat graphic, and somewhat historic. This post aims to share my experience and musings on my observations as I drive between the (Information design) cultures of Europe.
